The Absentee Shawnee Economic Development Authority, Inc. (ASEDA, Inc. or ASEDA) is a federally chartered corporation wholly owned by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe (AST) of Oklahoma. ASEDA serves as a holding company for revenue-generating businesses and economic development opportunities for the AST and is charged with creating, owning, investing in, operating, and/ or managing a diversified portfolio of revenue-generating businesses in the public, private, and/or commercial sectors and/or markets.
ASEDA is governed by a Corporate Board of Directors appointed by AST’s Executive Committee and is managed by four officers appointed and/or hired by the Board of Directors, including a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Currently, the Board of Directors is serving dual roles as the Corporate Officers of ASEDA.
The Thunderbird Express Convenience Store and Travel Stop is owned and operated under ASEDA, as well as several rental properties. At any given time, multiple economic development opportunities are under review by ASEDA in conjunction with AST’s Executive Committee.
